How to print passport photos on a 4×6 sheet

A 4×6 in print is one of the cheapest print sizes at any photo lab, and one sheet holds several passport photos.

Option 1: Photo lab or pharmacy kiosk (recommended)

  1. Download your 4×6 print sheet JPG from the tool.
  2. Upload it to your local photo lab's online ordering, or use an in-store kiosk.
  3. Choose a standard 4×6 in print, glossy or matte.
  4. Turn off cropping or "fill". The sheet is already exactly 4×6 at 300 DPI, so it must print at 100%.
  5. Pick up, then cut along the thin grey guide lines with scissors or a paper trimmer.

Option 2: Print at home

Use 4×6 photo paper and set your printer dialog to Actual size / 100%, not "Fit to page". Plain paper prints are typically rejected.

Check the size before you cut

Measure one photo with a ruler: a US photo should be exactly 2 in (51 mm) wide. If it's slightly smaller or larger, the print was scaled, so reprint at actual size.

For online applications such as US passport online renewal or the DS-160 visa form, upload the separate digital JPG instead of the print sheet. Make your photo.
